Terms of Service

Welcome to Like a Tree. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the app.
1. About the Service
Like a Tree is a faith-based daily rhythm app that helps users engage with scripture, reflection, and prayer. The service is provided by Like a Tree ("we," "us," or "our") and is available through our website and mobile applications.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use Like a Tree. By using the app, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date.
You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. When you delete your account, your data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
4. Acceptable Use
Like a Tree is designed to foster spiritual growth, reflection, and encouragement. When using the app, especially features that involve sharing with others (Inner Circle, Activity Groups), you agree not to:
- Post content that is hateful, threatening, harassing, or abusive
- Share content that is sexually explicit or gratuitously violent
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
- Use the app to spam, solicit, or advertise
- Attempt to access another user's account or data
- Interfere with the operation of the service or circumvent its security measures
- Use the app in any way that encourages comparison, competition, or striving among users
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines.
5. Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you create in Like a Tree, including notes, reflections, and prayer entries. By using the app, you grant us a limited license to store, display, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you and, where you choose, to the people you share it with.
We do not claim ownership of your content. We do not use your content for advertising, training, or any purpose other than delivering the service.
Content you share with your Inner Circle or Activity Groups is visible to the members of those groups. You are responsible for what you choose to share.
6. Scripture and Third-Party Content
Like a Tree includes scripture passages and may link to third-party Bible reading services (such as BibleGateway or YouVersion). Scripture quotations are used in accordance with their respective licenses. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
7. Availability and Changes
We strive to keep Like a Tree available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the app at any time. If we make changes that materially affect your use of the service, we will notify you through the app or by email.
8. Intellectual Property
The Like a Tree name, logo, design, and software are the property of Like a Tree and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the app or its content (other than your own user-generated content) without our written permission.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
Like a Tree is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.
Like a Tree is a tool to support your spiritual practice. It is not a substitute for professional counseling, medical advice, or pastoral care.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Like a Tree and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, use, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service.
11. Termination
You may stop using Like a Tree and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the service. Upon termination, your right to use the app ceases and your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Arkansas, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
